A BIT ABOUT US
Whale Seeker was founded to tackle the tricky task of automating whale detection using imagery. Our clients span many global markets but all share the same pain-point: needing a faster, cheaper, and more reliable way of detecting whales. We’re building solutions that meet our client’s specific needs and fit into their workflow. The success of our company comes from our wildly hard-working, innovative, multidisciplinary team – their smarts, collaborative spirit and our company’s pending B Corp status set us apart from other AI or environmental consulting teams. Our people are Whale Seeker’s biggest competitive advantage and we’ll continue investing in our team and people-first culture.
A major pain point in the industry is the lag between data acquisition and it being analyzed. We are developing ML-powered tools that will greatly help our team process large databases of aerial imagery easily, accurately, and much, much faster. By taking on this role, you will contribute to building tools that will analyze aerial imagery to detect whales large and small. You will contribute to low-level implementation of the AI process as well as shape up the high-level system pipeline and architecture. Junior or senior applicants welcome, what matters to us is your passion and dedication to our goals.
You’ll join a multidisciplinary team where everyone—including you—is striving to constantly grow. We are an incredibly diverse and supportive team and love to pitch in when problems arise and give feedback to help each other learn and meet our goals. We are passionate about lots of things: automation, meaningful detection tools, useful data communication, global solutions for healthy oceans, and a great user experience. As much as we care about powerful, useful tools for whale detection, we care as deeply about an ethical, sustainable, business model where stakeholders, employees, and the environment play major roles driving our decisions.
